Creating Structure For The Tunnel

I wanted to create a sturdy structure that will be light weight and portable, it also needed to hold its shape. I decided to create a ring based support so that it will hold the tunnels shape all the way around. Measuring (Internal Ring) = 33cm, (Outer Ring)= 36cm. I was able to draw this up on illustrator and get it cut out on 4mm MDF.

I measured 4cm away from each end of the tunnel and marked where It landed. Using this as my guide I used hot glue to fuse the wood to the foam board which has allowed a strong and sturdy structure between the two. (Image Below)

I began thinking of how I could create a base for the tunnel to stop it from rolling around. Which I quickly drew up a design that would support the tunnel across the bottom, which wouldn't topple over with added extra weight. I drew up my design on Illustrator and copied it and pasted to create 4 separate stands. (Image Below)

I took this design to the Laser Cutter and used 4mm MDF to get it cut out of, which is strong and holds its shape well, it is also a cheap material to use.

I measured where the point of the tunnel would be most suitable to be centred. Once I had decided, using Gorilla Glue (Wood Glue) I applied it to the pieces that would meet. I then used clamps to hold it in place to stop it becoming misplaced.

(Image Below) This is how my structure stands, which I believe is very much suited to what I need it to do. There is no wobble to the structure which I thought there maybe. However, it has proven to be a suitable structure which I think I will take to my final design.

My next task is to create a path/raised section of the tunnel which centres the camera when in motion.
