Melissa Wilson - Designer & Prop Maker

A Bit About Me...
Languages
I am a Graduate student looking to get into the industry of Film, Prosthetics, Model/Prop Making and Set Design. I'm enthusiastic and outgoing. I really enjoy working as part of a team as well as independently. I am determined to expand my skills through exploration in the industry.
I am a keen learner with big interest in the film design industry from props, sets and characters to costumes. I am also a huge movie fan and love the theatre as well as the arts. I am looking to expand my skills further and develop my way of working.

Work experience
Volunteering For Leeds Castle Carnival for it's 900th anniversary
26/07/2019-29/07/2019
Working alongside RosaProductions, ShadeMakers and many other local artists I participated in making props for the carnival as well as taking part in the carnival weekend. It was a great experience being able to wear and carry the props that I designed and made for the carnival. Being able to take part in history, to lead a century throughout the parade.
Maidstone TV Studios
05/03/2019- 03/04/2019
Working alongside Maidstone TV Studios was really eye opening. My team and I were asked to design a set for a children's TV show that was set on a space craft. The command centre was the main part of the ship where contestants needed to complete tasks to recharge the engines so they could escape the hands of a not so nice alien. We had to design the games as well as the ship which was a very large task, however we were able to achieve this to an extremely high standard. My experience with Maidstone TV Studios allowed me to see behind the scenes of a live TV show, on set and in the control room.
Midkent College- Production "In The Round" 2010
08/04/2019-21/05/2019
My most recent work experience was with Midkent College Gillingham, myself and my team were asked to design and make the set. This turned out to be quite the challenge through delivery dates, and the short period of time to get it completed, however everything was finished on time and looked amazing. I was able to go and see the show which really made me proud of what we were able to achieve in such a short period of time.
