Ageing The Tunnel

To age the tunnel, I have used two techniques to create smears of a dirty worn surface. The first being with the Vallejo Mud in colour black, this has allowed me to add dirt and grime to the walls. I applied this with a pallet knife as this allowed me to make 3D effect with chunkier pieces.

The second technique I have found that has worked really well is using tea leaves and PVA. Using a paint brush I coated areas on the roof with the PVA and sprinkled the tea leaves onto of this. I tried to have streaks going down the sides of the tunnel as if the dirt over time is seeping down the walls. I have another mud acrylic to add on as soon as it is delivered.

To finish off the tunnel, I sprayed it with a fixative to make sure any loose tea leaves would stay on, other wise they might fall off over time.

I am really happy with the overall look of the tunnel so far.
